Nation of Islam to Address Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault at Women’s Only Meeting
Milwaukee, WI-Saturday,December 3rd, The Nation of Islam and community leaders againstdomestic violence and sexual abuse will host a forum for women only entitled“The Power within to Heal”. Panelistsinclude Antonia Vann, CEO of ASHA Family Services, Dr. Patricia McManus of theBlack Health Coalition, Zakiya Courtney of the Ausar Auset Society, Dr. KhyanaPumphrey, and Sister Deniel Muhammad of the Nation of Islam. The keynote speaker is Dr. Ava Muhammad,National Representative of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.
Sister Ava Muhammad, a Student Minister in the Nation ofIslam and the first woman to head a mosque in the Islamic world. She received her Juris Doctorate from Georgetown Universityin Washington D.C. and is a member of the New York Bar. Anaccomplished attorney, author, researcher, and lecturer who has been featuredin Essence Magazine, Dr. Muhammad will be interviewed on 1290 WMCS, “TheEvening Rush” with Earl Ingram Jr., on Wednesday, November 30 at 5pm to discussending the abuse of women.
The event, which is for women only, begins at 3pm at Mercy Memorial Baptist Church,located at 2474 North 37th Street. Doorsopen at 2:30 and there is a suggested $5 donation to attend.
